Can You Hear Him Now?

I love encouraging women with the words that the Father speaks through me. It brings me so much joy to be used by the Father to uplift His daughters. When I share my experiences with women in regards to how God speaks to me, the common response I receive is, “I wish God would talk to me like that,” and whenever I hear that statement, I ask them, “Are you listening to Him?” God speaks to all of us, but it is a choice whether we choose to accept or reject what He is saying, or if we are properly positioned to hear His voice.

It is only in the stillness of silence that you can hear God’s voice. You have to learn how to humble yourself before Him, and let His words guide you along the process. Allow His words to live inside of you and breathe life in you. In other words: prepare yourself more by hearing God speak. So how do you hear the Father speak? By being still and knowing that He is God (Psalm 46:10).

God speaks to those who are quiet. The ones whose minds are not cluttered with the things of this world , but the ones who are focused on Him. Their thoughts and hearts are attentive to Him and what He has for them. The enemy will try to distract you when you want to hear from God. He will do so by putting worries or thoughts of unconcern in your mind. Or if you are focused on God, the enemy will distract you by making the telephone ring, going over your to-do-list for the day while you are trying to sit before Him, and so many other ways.

Another way to hear from the Father is by getting into His Word. Throughout the Bible, there are so many people who have sought the Father’s voice, and they heard Him. David is a great example of this. He always looked to God for knowledge and prayer. David took the advice God gave him because he was willing to listen to Him. He fought (and won) many battles because he heard from God and obeyed Him. Solomon is another example. Solomon, an heir to the throne through David, could have had anything he wanted from the Father, but the only thing he asked Him for was wisdom. Because he did not ask for fame, money, or popularity, the Father gave it to him because he sought Him for what was important to rule over His people. There are so many others in the Bible, from Gideon to Esther, that sought and humbled themselves before the Father, but the greatest example of all is God’s Son, Jesus.

Jesus sought to hear the Father’s voice in the early hours of the morning. He allowed nothing or no one to keep Him from God and that which He poured in Him. Jesus was the example for many to follow. Even when His time was drawing near for His persecution, Jesus still faithfully sought to hear from the Father knowing what was going to happen to Him.

Quieting your spirit, reading God’s Word, and being willing to receive from Him is where it starts. As God’s daughters, there must be room for you to receive from Him so that He will be able to give more of Himself to you. It is then, you will hear the still small voice you are seeking. This is how you hear from Him, but it takes time, sacrifice, and a willing heart to do so. It also takes you be willing to pray.

Prayer is the key to all of this. When you pray, you are inviting the Father to speak to you. As you seek Him, He will speak to you. Prayer is a powerful tool that unlocks the answers you need, but it is not until you get before God and allow Him to speak to you that this will happen. So much can be done through prayer, but so little take advantage of it. Someone who elects not to pray to the Father is like someone tossing a beautiful pearl from an oyster back into the ocean. Prayer is worth so much, but so many see it as little value. Some may see prayer as a waste of time but in actuality, it is time well spent. It is not until you fully and completely release yourself over to the Father that He can hear from His daughters.

My prayer is that you will rest in the stillness of the Father’s presence and allow yourself to hear from Him. That you will let go of the distractions that are hindering you from coming to Him for the enemy knows that if you seek the Father, it will be used as a weapon against him, which is why he is able to easily distract you. May the Father’s works show up in the answers that come in the form of prayers, in the form of His Word, and in the form of obedience from his daughters, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

    Amen. Thank you for inspiring me to seek Christ more and to stop being “busy” and take time to pray for everything.

    LaShana;
    As I read your post, I can confirm that the Lord speaks to me but I never preface my statements with “the Lord told me”. I just know that he does and act accordingly. I live like He wants me to live and share through my life. But I appreciated the reminder of taking the time to be still with God and removing all distractions.

      Andree,

      You’re so welcome, and I do the same thing. I refrain from starting my statements that way as well because not everybody is receptive when you come to them in a manner like that. Thank you for reading my post and liking my FB page!!!

    Fantastic post, Sis! It’s essential to stay connected with The Source [Jesus], in order to know what to and what NOT to do. Time to unplug some of these other “appliances”.

    Praise God, Sis! I agree with staying connected to the Source because that is how we get our power, thank you for sharing!

    Wow. This is excellent. God is so GOOD. He knows just what we need and when we need it. Thanks for being HIS tool.

  6. God talks to me as well, but I know that I miss many more times that he wants to speak as well because I get distracted by the things I need to do or I spend all my prayer time talking. It’s definitely something he’s working on me in. Thanks for this encouragement.
